10 steps to getting it all together

Need to get organized? Are you weighed down by the sheer volume of your project 'stuff'? (books, papers, files, folders, references ..............)

Make notes from information sheets given to you by the teachers / lecturers and / or course texts and save them in separate files and folders. This can be either a separate sleeve in a clear plastic wallet, lever arch folder or a multi tabbed notebook.
Download a copy of eCorral and set up project 'corrals' to store your electronic documents. Corrals can be set up for subjects and/or assignments.
Keep separate piles of "stuff" on your desk and / or floor that correspond to your eCorrals
Jot the due dates into a calendar or mobile phone to remind you when things are supposed to be handed in. Tip: You can set up Outlook or Google Calendar to do this and intregrate them into your corrals.
Organise a special place to do your studying, where you and your files and "stuff" can't be disturbed.
Do high priority work first and low priority "busy" stuff after you've completed your assignments and projects.
Don't stop studying just because you've finished school - your education has only just begun. And the lessons you've learned on how to do research and write assignments and reports will serve you very well into your future working lives.
Do homework and assignments first, save the social interaction "stuff" for after you've done your "homework". This is classic time management and project management "stuff".
Scan all your paper files into the computer and save all the e-files into one corral - so you don't lose anything important.
Remember, if you get organized from the outset it will make your life easier. Spend a few hours setting up your eCorrals and save days looking for 'lost' documents, references, web bookmarks, papers and media!
