Family history research: Are you looking for skeletons or the rich and famous?

When we begin our family history quest there are many reasons why we begin. It may be because we need a sense of knowing where we came from and why our families did what they did - why did great aunt esmerelda uproot the family and move them to another country?

Or it may be just to see how far back we can go. A friend in Australia can trace her family village back to Domesday - in England for instance.

What we can never tell is just what we will find. Sometimes it may be skeletons, the murderers and the villains and in some cases we may find we are related to someone of notability - and both groups of people are good to have in the family. Why? Well the more famous (infamous) your relatives the more there will be written on them and the more we will be able to find. And that has got to be a good thing.
