Event planning: Web conferencing

With time, distance and monetary constraints, planning and running an event is not for the faint hearted these days. One of the ways organisations are getting around these issues when event planning is to use technology, namely the Internet to deliver the course / training.

The beauty of internet based events are many. As the event planner, you coordinate the event as normal. People still need to register and in some cases pay a fee to join the event. You send out event confirmation letters as normal, but do so via email, along with some additional instructions on how to access the event online.

It is up to the attendee to ensure they have the right internet connection speed and accessibility (although you advise minimum requirements in your correspondence). The day before the event it is also a good idea to telephone the event attendee so they don't miss out on the event. All these steps and stages should be built into your event planning template.

Event planning means taking care of the details.
